We survived our first family christmas! It was great! Even though kason is still recovering from his bad cold, he was a trooper and enjoyed opening all his gifts! Look at his loot! Spoiled little baby!

Nothing like Christmas to make you realize about what is important in your life. Having family together and watching kason learn and grow more and more with every passing minute is the best christmas gift we could ever ask for!!

Our holiday plans- but we so what it takes to make him better! We spent last week preparing for Christmas and now that Kelly is off for 2 weeks we can enjoy our first Christmas together as a family!

New tricks

Kason is on the move! Whether its creeping along or standing while holding on to the coffee table, things are about to change fast!

We enjoyed brunch at The Gates today and Kason - he was great and let us enjoy our brunch!

He's a joyful baby

On the whole! He is teething right now and spent a majority of the afternoon and evening wailing! Poor bugger! But all smiles in the morning!

He's on the move... Sort of. He doesn't seem close to crawling but he can and will move when he is on his tummy- using his massive upper body strength!

Big boy bath

And he loves every second of it!!! He grew out of his baby bath!

He is my best friend....

As I am entering my second half of my maternity leave, I'm starting to get a little uptight about the idea of leaving Kason for an entire day!! While I have done that over the last 7 months and enjoyed my time alone- I have also cherished spending so much time with him and seeing him learn new things every second!

I have heard moms say they go through phases during mat leave- first you start to miss work (I went through this at 4 months when Kelly went back to work and I spent a lot of time by myself or changing diapers....) Then you go through a phase where you can't imagine going back to work (I am definitely in is phase now) and then finally- you are just simply ready to go back.

Sounds like the phases of pregnancy- at 5 months pregnant I know I turned to Kelly and said 'I can't do this' and then a few days before my due date I was so ready to have Kason that I was no longer afraid of what was about to happen. And I can honestly say like most moms I spoke to while pregnant (and didn't believe because I thought they were trying to spare me) that I do not remember the pain of going through labor- I just remember the joy of holding our little baby boy for the first time. That I remember,every time I pick up our almost 17lb guy!!!!!

So- I'm going to make the most of the next few months with my best buddy, it has all gone by way too fast!

It's Christmas!!!

I figured I would get the Santa picture out of the way early - as there were no line ups!  Kason was so cute!  I thought he might try to pull at Santa's beard, but he just looked at him with wonder!

It's going to be a great holiday season!!

Happy Birthday Grandpa Drake!

On the health train...sort of

Hey!  I'll bet you think I have given up my original quest to lose my baby weight!  Well I haven't, even though Christmas is quickly approaching and I most definately will have to work out double time to work off that 'dainty weight'!

I'm still closer to my goal than I was last month!  Only about 8 lbs to go before I reach  my goal!  I weigh less now than I did before I got pregnant!  I attribute this to a) breastfeeding b) cutting dairy out of my diet for Kason c) working out d) being busy and not eating because I am bored.

Here is a pic of me in June.... feels nice to have lost that!  The other pic is from the end of October!

Moms will really appreciate this! They forgot to mention to enjoy your beautiful shiny hair while pregnant because by 3 months, I am shedding like a dog and finding hair on all of Kason's clothes, toys even in his diaper!
