1st Snowfall

Thank God for little snowsuits!  We only went out for a few minutes, but it was great for Kason and I to get some FRESH AIR!
Looks like the snow is here to stay in Winnipeg and it is going to be a long boring winter maybe for Kason and I!

He's a cutie!!

What a great husband!

Kelly is celebrating a bachelor party this weekend- and I'm in single parent mode. About 30mins after he left the house these came... What a guy!

It's going way too fast!!

All of the sudden kason turned 6 months old an everything has changed:

1) no more swaddle: kason has been rolling for over a month now- but the back to front roll is becoming very frequent. Kelly and I have swaddled kason since he was about 6 weeks old and we have relied on it for kason to fall asleep quickly. It works!!!
We have debated when to stop the swaddle and have done a combination of both for the last few weeks. But this morning... After a 515 am wake up call from Kason- he rolled over while swaddled- very dangerous.
So- we said good bye to our swaddle this evening and hello to kasons new 'sleep sack'- a wearable blanket.
Today he has both his naps on his tummy.... How things have changed.

2) phase out soother
Most if u probably noticed that kason had his soother (literally) attached to him from 2weeks of age until about 5 months old. As kason become more personable- we didn't need to use the soother as such a crutch. Don't get me wrong- we still use it from time to time- but kason is much more capable of soothing himself

3) clothing!
Thank god for hand me downs! We went through a phase where we had to clear out half of kasons closet because he grew out of his 3-6 month stuff fast...

4) food and drink
As well as starting solids we are also trying to teach kason to drink water out of a cup. 3 sippy cups later- he still doesn't quite get it.

5) teeth!!!
And I thought sleep was infrequent before! Poor little guy wakes often and is in pain at the end of the day. Thank goodness for ambesol and infant Advil! His little tooth is just showing but not moving fast!
He has really taken to pressing his lips together... Likely because of the pain! It's cute!

Wouldn't change a single thing though! He couldn't be more perfect!

Birthday celebration

Lol! It may not be birthday cake but sweet potatoes will have to do! He sort of liked them...

Right now the best gift I could give him is this phone- he wants it bad

Happy 6 month Birthday!

Half a year... wow.  That sure went by fast.  Kelly and I are feeling so sleep deprived from being up for 2 hours with Kason in the middle of the night we didn't even realize that it was his half year birthday until we looked at the calendar... where I had written it down!  yikes.

6 months of many many ups, and a few downs... mainly lack of sleep.  If I can get through six months of only sleeping in 3-4 hour increments... what else am I capable to doing?

The ups definately outweigh the downs:
*giggles
*lots of smiles
*rolling over
*sitting up
*playing with toys
*eating solids (don`t try chicken unless you want a good laugh though)

What else is Kason going to accomplish in the next 6 months... I`m excited and a little overwhelmed to find out!

so, as I sit here typing - Forever Young by Rod Stewart came on the Galaxy station.  (don`t fault me for listening to the 80`s station - it`s awesome!) and I am reminiscing.

With mixed emotions I watch Kason grow.  Watching him get so excited as he learns new things every hour-every day is amazing.  But the idea of having a conversation with my son, walking hand in hand with my son, reading books with my son is an exciting future to look forward to.

Daylight savings

We tried to prepare kase... He went to bed at 745 last night so we can put him down at 7 tonight!

The up at 5 am wasn't so fun though!
