Great trip!

Well- we made it home safe and sound. What a perfect kid! Slept the entire way both plane rides- makes traveling a bit easier. We spent some
Time with gramps and other family but we also had a chance to bond together as our little family! We went to Prince's Island Park in Calgary and had a great time with Kason.
Back home to reality- super HOT weather, a partially done kitchen Reno and getting back on the workout train. Oh man! Here is a pic of Kel and Kason on the plane!

Fun times at the wedding!

We had a great time at Lori's wedding in Calgary! Kason was a dream of course and we even shared a family dance! He is getting lots of grandpa time!
Unfortunately he spit up on his cute shirt with a tie, so we didn't get a pic, but he looked cute nonetheless!
Tomorrow we are going to auntie Lynne's for a brunch then spending the rest of the day as a family! It's a good way to celebrate our anniversary and the start of our awesome summer... Since July was a tad bit crazy!

1st plane ride!

Kason slept the entire ride- turbulence and all!

3 years and counting...

Happy Anniversary to us! Despite finishing Kelly's treatment today- this has been our best year yet!

Having a wonderful husband who not only supports you through your weaker moments of new motherhood but also makes me laugh every day- even while he battles his own weaknesses is amazing.

We are heading to Calgary this Friday! So look forward to a hilarious posting about flying with Kason !

What a crazy month of July! I look forward to enjoying a nice calm August with our new kitchen!

Fun at the park

Kason LOVES trees and when the sun goes through them- so the gardens at St. Vital park were a hit!

Family Time

Our life is a little hectic and crazy right now - but all these things make it easy to remember how important family is and how lucky Kelly and I are to have Kason AND each other.  Enjoy those small moments, everyday/month/year isn't always going to be awesome.  But, at the end of the day - just look at each other and remember that you are happy and loved.

Crazy day!

Even with kitchen renos going on and we are stuck in the basement on this hot day, someone still knows how to keep it cool. Awesome!

Keeping it off

This is definitely helping...

Rainy days

These rainy days are tough for this active baby! I think we will risk getting soaked during a walk then watching the showcase showdown on price is right. Although, I did get emotional watching that mother/daughter team win a car.

The Quest to lose the 'baby weight'...

Should we really call it 'baby weight'? I think it should be called 'I'm so hungry I could eat a horse' weight. I know that you only needed 300 more calories a day in your pregnancy, but lets get real, you are freakin hungry and everyone enjoys it when you eat lots! I gained approx. 45 lbs in my pregnancy. I'm not embarrassed to share that since I have already lost 35 of those lbs to date. I worked out hard during my pregnancy, hitting the gym up to week 36 and walking 2x per day until the day before I went into labor. As everyone said, I was 'all belly'. I didn't feel all belly, but that's neither here nor there. After Kason came, I had the itch to work out but had 2 hurdles to overcome a) leaving Kason and b) feeding Kason. a) kelly had to practically PUSH me out of the door to get my first workout in without Kason. It was hard, I texted him the whole time, but once I was done I felt great! b) Kelly and I worked hard to incorporate bottles for Kason, and now Kelly can enjoy feeding Kason - truthfully a very rewarding experience. So, with those 2 hurdles overcome what's holding me back right? Well, my body is simply not the same. I started going to step class and pilates class to lose some weight and firm up parts that are no longer firm. I started running 3 weeks ago and have worked up to a 45 minute run. Not my old self but not bad considering I GAVE BIRTH 10 WEEKS AGO! Yikes, it still seems hard to believe. So, my goal is to weigh 15 lbs less than I did pre-pregnancy - so with 25 lbs left to lose, I'm excited for this journey and to share it's challenges. Hopefully one day Kason will read this and understand how much I love him and want to be my healthiest self so I can be the best possible mom for him! Here is a pic of my days before I found out I was pregnant and at 40 weeks pregnant... just a little different. Stay tuned for that new bikini pic, i'm going to look better than ever!

I love my bath time!

Such a serious kid!  He needs to lighten up a bit sometime!
Kason is almost 10 weeks old and still hesitates to smile.  And when he does - good luck getting a photo of it!

2 months of Kason - scroll down to watch him grow!

Kason is the man!

I figured I would start a blog discussing all the wonderful things that have come with becoming a mother!  Also - is it so wrong to want to share pictures of the most beautiful kid in the world?  Listen, I know that everything thinks that their kid is good looking, but let's get real, Kason is the real deal.  All the nurses in the hospital let us in on it... they see a lot of ugly babies.  Kason was a breath of fresh air!

This is also an opportunity to share some of the challenges that I have overcome and are anticipating in becoming a mother.  While the average age to have a baby has risen from 27 to over 30 in the last few years, I still felt like a teenager at 29 as soon as Kason was born.  Like everything that I had learned over the last 3 decades were thrown out the window as soon as he came.  I have to learn so much more.

Only, much like being in labor, I'm excited about this challenge and the outcome.  Sure, mistakes will be made - like when I first changed a poopy diaper and let Kason wear his socks... ruined.  But Kelly and I will get there and we are excited to share that with Kason and everyone in our family!

Mostly, I started this blog to post pictures of Kason for people to enjoy who are not lucky enough to see Kason everyday and watch him grow.  In the 2 short months that he has been around, he has managed to lose half his hair, grow out of half his clothes, cry a LOT louder, coo and goo and smile!  It's amazing.
